I bought one of these for my 2002 VW Jetta with the Monsoon head unit in the US.
It basically works, and I can change songs through the steering wheel control or the deck. The sound quality is perfect. Xcarlink was not sure if it would work on American cars since I think they only have the monsoon in the US. But all the plugs were the same. I chose to buy the one with blue plugs to go to the back of the head unit, but I could have gotten the one with black plugs to go in the trunk where the changer is supposed to go. I mounted mine in the glove box. Easy access. The USB port worked great with jump drives. Also the SD slot worked.
I did have some issues though.
It woud "skip" every now and then in mid song, show an error on screen, and then a second or two latter would come back to whe..
